Fuerteventura holds a large number of events and festivals.  On the island you will find a variety of facilities for performing arts, history and culture of Fuerteventura.

As in the Canary Islands, one of the most traditional festivals which are held on the island, are the carnivals are held in varying dates between February Fuerteventura Cultureand March in all municipalities. These festivals, devoted to a theme each year include parades, the gala of choice for carnival queen and murgas.  In addition, each town has its own individual holiday villages and hamlets, with different traditions and activities.

Of all of the patron saint festivities that are held in the municipality of Antigua, the most important of which was held on September 8th and is Our Lady of Antigua. Besides concerts, fireworks and other activities on the day, the Virgin is celebrated at a Mass at 13:00 and is followed by a wine of harmony, ending with a procession of the Virgin around the church in the afternoon.

In the municipality of Betancuria festivities are held yearly in honor of the Virgen de la Pena, patron saint of the island, whose expression is most representative in the pilgrimage which involves people from all corners of the island.   The most important holidays in La Oliva are held in February in honor of the Virgen de la Candelaria.

Also noteworthy is the town Fiestas del Carmen, Corralejo, with its pilgrimage and festivities in honor of Nuestra Senora de los Dolores and San Miguel Arcángel Caldereta held in late September and early October.
Among the most important festival of the municipality of Puerto del Rosario are the festivities in honor of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, held on October 7th. During the last days of the festival you can attend concerts and festivals, visit the exhibition or take part in the pilgrimage.

In Tuineje there is also a large amount of patron festivals, and pilgrimages to Ranchos de Animas and the Festivities in honor of San Miguel Arcangel, Fuerteventura Culture 1held on September 29th and October 13th. These celebrations can be traced back to the oath made to the saint after the victory at the Battle of Tamasite in 1740. In addition to religious celebrations, performances are held at the British Grand Tarajal landings and battles in places where they occurred.

Concerts and Festivals
In addition to concerts and festivals held in the auditoriums, Music Festival for example, are held throughout the island, many of them because of the different patron saint festivals, with groups such as Estopa, La Oreja Van King Africa Gogh.  The growing interest in the island for this type of event has led to the launch of several festivals both as the islands of the country:

Lebranche Rock in 2004, the city of Puerto del Rosario began this initiative at the number of local groups but had no chance of playing in public. The festival is celebrated at Easter.  Some of these groups are Orphans of the Storm, Bar Mou, smoothing the saw, Metrabate, Goat Horn, Imetra, Alma without Dueno, hysteria, Breast Band, way of life, Urban Dux and Berri Txarrak.

Fuertemusica: Rock and premium lebranche participation of local groups or emerging Fuertemusica, which started in the same year, mainly consolidated groups in the world of music. Thus, we find that in their scenario on the beaches of El Cotillo, eg, Aristides Moreno, Bebe, Macaco, Ojos de Brujo, Radio Tarifa and Ed Motta.

Auditorium
Tests for the National Dance Company in the Auditorium of Puerto del Rosario on 25/07/2000.  Fuerteventura has three auditoriums in which they conduct performances of the various performing arts such as conferences, rallies and charity galas.

Auditorio de Fuerteventura Island: has 550 seats and is the oldest of the two enclosures of this kind on the island. On its stage, many artists have performed, most notably Pedro Guerra, Manolo Vieira, Fito & Fitipaldis, Esperanza Roy, Gemma Cuervo, Carlos Sobera, Mirtha Ibarra, Vladimir Cruz, or Company Nacional de Danza, amongst others.

Grand Auditorium Tarajal: It was inaugurated on April 5th 2002 with “The owl and the pussycat” and has 360 seats.

Auditorio de Corralejo: now as its name implies, Corralejo, La Oliva.

Library Center Island
The Island Library Center is located in the heart of the city in the old university. It has a multi-purpose hall with 180 seats, air conditioning, wifi area, multimedia room where you’ll find lectures, presentations, film festival, etc.
