Caleta de Fuste (also known as El Castillo Caleta de Fuste) is in the municipality of Antigua, on the east coast of Fuerteventura. It is next to Corralejo, Costa Calma and Jandia Playa as one of the tourist centers of Fuerteventura. The population is 1,467 (as of 2008).

Inspired by old military maps of the bay of El Castillo (German for Castle), refers to the still-existing fortifications from the year 1740, Caleta de Fusteproviding the residents of the town protection from pirates. The hamlet on the main beach between Calle Alcalde Juan Evora Suarez and the main road is used by the municipality of Caleta de Fuste. Parte 1 means the newer part of the main road west such as Caleta de Fuste and parte 2 is officially called the district “Castillo” or “Caleta de Fuste.”

Before the 1980s, a Spanish company bought around the bay, large tracts of land. After buying the land, a hotel complex was built with small houses called the Club El Castillo. Similarly, a marina was created. After the reunification of Germany, information emerged about the real backers of the land who purchased and constructed the hotel. The building is very narrow. There is a mixture of large hotels and apartment houses. As in many other resorts, there are no historic town centers anymore. Under the guiding principle to promote quality tourism, there emerged on the main road south, enormous costs for the water supply for the two 18-hole golf courses, furthermore, a shopping center with three hotels and a conference center was built directly on the coast.
